His songs like his signature song Crocodile Rock and his breakthrough hit Your Song were hugely popular and remain favorites. Nearly all of John’s songs were co-written with songwriting partner Bernie Taupin. John has garnered several awards and accolades during his career including Grammy Awards and Academy Awards, as well as a Golden Globe and Tony Award. His achievements prompted Rolling Stone magazine to place him at #49 on their list of 100 greatest artists of all time in 2004.John has said that Your Song, is a favorite of his and one of the best romantic songs he’s ever written. John is one of the most successful artists of all time having sold more than 250 million records during his career. In 2004, Rolling Stone ranked him number 49 on its list of the 100 greatest artists of all time. John was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1994.
To his credit and as proof of his talent he has had more than 50 top 40 hits, seven consecutive #1 albums in the U.S., six Grammy Awards, an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award and a Tony Award.

Some history about Your Song by Elton John
Your Song is a ballad composed and performed by English musician Elton John about the innocent and sincere expression of love for someone. John and long-time collaborator Bernie Taupin wrote the lyrics. The song was part of a collection of songs that John and Taupin wrote while living together and was actually written one day over breakfast.
Your Song was originally released as the B-side to Take Me to the Pilot but disc jockeys preferred Your Song and it soon replaced Take Me to the Pilot as the A side. Your Song hit the top ten on the singles charts in the UK and the U.S. John has called the song one of his favorites and performs it at most of his concerts.
